The school's trim trail, which is a much loved main attraction in the school playground, is in a state of disrepair. With the threat of it being condemned looming, everyone is jumping to action to try and do what they can to raise the required £25,000 funds to replace it.
Sean Powers, one of the Dads at the school has been known to endure ultra-marathon distances in the past, and is dusting off his long distance gear to attempt this challenge. It's been 9 years since he's attempted a distance of this scale ... and he describes himself as "a lot more creaky since then, but still full of grit and determination to do this for this great cause!".
The challenge is to cover 270km (168 miles) of the Pennine Bridleway in under 100 hours non-stop, with no external help or support allowed. That's an average of 67.5km or 42 miles per day, for 4 days. The clock doesn't stop for rest or eating, so any dallying or stops burn up valuable time.
