We have purchased 6 sewing machines to embark on a 6 month course for 6 NEET (Not in Education, Employment or Training) girls to run twice a year. In total training 12 girls per year with skills to make sanitary pads, Tops, Bags, Trousers & Dresses.
Check out our demo! Our pilot for the course in early May saw an incredible response from girls wishing to sign up for the course with lots of enthusiasm to learn :-)
The girls are expected to leave the course feeling confident to make a variety of garments and will go on to the 2nd phase of learning in 2023 by developing entrepreneur skills to run our market and generate income. This course will also create a community safety measure and will reduce teenage pregnancy, early marriage & increases opportunities to enrol in higher education.
This fundraising target will cover the entire project for the year including facilitation, administration overheads and materials.
