Story

As a team, a number of us have been cruelly affected by pancreatic cancer, losing family members, friends and colleagues to the disease. It's the deadliest common cancer, with over half of people losing their lives within 3 months of their diagnosis.

For this reason, we've come together to take on a tough challenge to help raise vital funds for research into pancreatic cancer, to hopefully transform this devastating prognosis.

After delaying our challenge from May, and then with potential restrictions threatening the possibility of our UK Three Peaks Challenge yet again for September, we've decided to take on a logistically simpler, yet similarly demanding challenge on September 26th - the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge. With the release of the most recent COVID restrictions in the UK, we plan to hike in two groups of 4, and practice social distancing for the entire duration of the trek weekend.

With what has transpired this year, and with how threatened cancer research funding is now, our fundraising is now more important than ever to Pancreatic Cancer UK and we're more committed than ever to raise £350,000 to fund vital ground-breaking research.

Thanks to the support of our friends, family and colleagues, we've so far raised over £100,000 for this incredibly worthy cause.

But we don't want to stop there. We would be honoured to have your support, to help us get to our target of £350,000, to support and protect Pancreatic Cancer UK's research programme through the pandemic; to fund vital research into developing new treatments for pancreatic cancer.

What your donations will do

Just 8% of people diagnosed with pancreatic cancer will be able to have the only curative treatment - surgery. This means that thousands of people are left powerless to fight pancreatic cancer, without treatment and hope for their future.

100% of funds raised go towards Pancreatic Cancer UK's Grand Challenge Award research team, who aim to translate the recent successes of immunotherapy to treat pancreatic cancer.

With so few treatment options for pancreatic cancer, we need to find new ways to treat this devastating cancer, and fast. Immunotherapy is a ground-breaking new treatment that could change everything, working by unlocking the power of the body's immune system to fight and destroy cancer cells.

£350,000 is what it takes to fund the final phase of Pancreatic Cancer UK's Grand Challenge research project. Your support of this innovative research could be a game-changer.

It's an incredible amount of money, and we're determined to raise as much of this as possible.

Thank you.

It’s unacceptable that more than half of people diagnosed with the deadliest common cancer die within three months. That’s why they need and deserve more. More research, more funding, more breakthroughs. More than hope. Together we’ll make that possible.
