Story

Message from Head Coach Casey Kaperbauer:

This team has worked tremendously hard since we started together in late August, and our staff is proud of the work they’ve put in - whether it be in the weight room, the classroom, or on the court. We have grown collectively in every way, and this group is a blast to coach! All 21 players have adjusted flawlessly to the new staff and terminology, and it’s truly been a joy to coach every one of them.

We begin our season with two closed scrimmages in late October before playing an exhibition game on November 1st at the University of Northern Iowa. From there, we will play a very tough non-conference slate, which includes the first four games all on the road against in-region opponents.

We are so excited to see what our group is made of this season. It will be great to get tested on the road early before moving into conference play. The GLVC is a very competitive league with plenty of new faces. It is our goal to compete for championships this year and every year in the future.

Our staff will work tirelessly to make this happen every day. To sustain excellence at any level, you need the support of several key contributors outside of the program. Upper Iowa Men’s Basketball should be a team that everyone fears for many years to come, and that is only possible by keeping up with competitors and getting us into the fight! If you are able to give any dollar amount to help our program, it would be appreciated beyond words; every gift helps.

Thank you. Go Peacocks!

Men's Basketball Needs

We look forward to facility updates that will greatly enhance the student-athlete experience at Upper Iowa. Most notably, our current film room is a classroom-style setup with large tables and school chairs inside blank walls. Our goal is to create a true film room with theater-style seating, including foldable trays on each individual chair, as well as UIU murals and decals on the wall. This is only possible through fundraising dollars. We are looking to create a unique scouting report and film breakdown experience for our players.

Additionally, we are looking to make upgrades to our locker room. Right now, a player’s lounge does not exist within our locker room. To gain a recruiting advantage and keep up with our competitors in that realm, our goal is to have a player’s lounge featuring two chairs, a sofa, a coffee table, and a big screen TV, which would flow right into our locker room. Adding this feature would not only make us more competitive in the recruiting space but would also improve our student-athlete experience. Our players would spend more time together in the building and have true spaces to work on school work, recovery techniques, and pregame preparation.
