Story
Message from Emily Jorgensen, SWA/Director of Academic Success & Assistant AD for Student-Athlete Development:
Through the Student-Athlete Development Series, we prepare our Peacock student-athletes for life after athletics through a four-year plan to learn all the things they need to know from working men and women as our Peacocks head off into the real world. While they learn a lot in the classroom, they can't learn it all.
Our development series ranges from identifying their core values to how to make good first impressions to HR-related items after you have accepted a job (like W2s, 401K, PTo, etc.) to financial literacy. We've also created a Peacock Networking Night to a give our senior Student-Athletes the opportunity to network with current employers across the Midwest. This gives them the chance to experience networking first-hand and potentially create connections that could help them secure a future job.
With additional funds, Student-Athlete Development could...
- offer an etiquette dinner to all of our Student-Athletes
- bring in different people from different areas of the country rather than just in the Midwest
- bring in speakers from national organizations with great energy and knowledge in this area
- gifts to the alumni that sit on our panels or lend their time and knowledge to our current student-athletes
Thank you for considering a gift for the Student-Athlete Development Series. Go Peacocks!
