Message from Head Coach Justin Maass:
The cold weather is rolling in, and that can only mean basketball season is on its way! The team has wrapped up our pre-season, and we have started official practice. I am really pleased with the growth of our team over the last 6 weeks. We have 7 new players on our roster, and they have seamlessly fit into our program. The team has embraced a higher level of intensity and competition that we have implemented. It has been great watching our team compete every day as if it were a GLVC tournament game.
Our season will officially begin in November. This year, we have one of the most challenging non-conference schedules that our team has had in a while. We open with a regional tournament playing Northern Michigan and Michigan Tech. Following our region tournament, we have 9 games in November and December, 8 of which will be in Dorman. Nothing beats playing at home! We are excited for the challenge ahead and know that playing high-level competition will make our team better.
Our athletes are really excited for the season and for the chance to compete in Peacock jerseys again. We look to build off the initial success we found since joining the GLVC. It is going to be an exciting year!!
Thank you for all your support and your generous donations. It is our top priority to give our athletes a great college experience, and we couldn’t do it without you all. We look forward to seeing everyone in Dorman Gym this winter!!
Your Previous Donations Have Gone Toward:
• 3 sets of Nike Game Jerseys
• 2 sets of practice jerseys
• Nike Winter Parkas for the team
• Wall decals outside of the basketball offices
• Multiple team bonding events (trip to the College Basketball Hall of Fame, Iowa WBB game in Kinnick stadium, escape rooms, etc.)
Women's Basketball Needs:
• We are teaming up with the men’s basketball team to create a basketball film room. We have a room in Dorman dedicated to this effort. Next, we want to make it a special place. This includes wall decals and theater-level seating. The film room is a big project that gives our team a space to utilize every day!
• Also, we are blessed to have a great locker room, but some updates are needed. We have hopes to add wall decals and to improve our player lounge with new couches and a fueling station.
• Finally, a destination trip has been a long-term project for our program over the past few years. We have fundraised a solid foundation and look to continue to grow that fund. It will be a great experience to get our athletes on a destination trip to places like Florida, Hawaii, or Puerto Rico.
