Story
From Rachel Caspers, SWA/Assistant AD for Student-Athlete Development:
The Student-Athlete Development Series was created to prepare our Peacock student-athletes for life after athletics. Each year we provide different programming to prepare our Peacocks to prepare them for the transition into the real world. There are many "real world" scenarios student-athletes aren't able to learn in the classroom.
Our development series ranges from identifying their core values, how to make good first impressions, HR-related items after you have accepted a job (like W2s, 401K, PTo, etc.), and financial literacy. We've also created a Peacock Networking Night to a give our senior student-athletes the opportunity to network with current employers across the Midwest. This not only helps improve networking skills, but it may open a door to a career after graduation.
With additional funds, Student-Athlete Development may have the opportunity to...
- offer an etiquette dinner to all of our Student-Athletes
- bring in speakers from national organizations to enhance what we are currently doing
- provide gifts to the alumni that sit on our panels or lend their time and knowledge to our current student-athletes
Thank you for considering a gift for the Student-Athlete Development Series.
Go Peacocks!
