Message from Head Coach Jay Tiedemann:

Peacock Nation, I want to start by thanking everyone for your generosity throughout the last year. Your contributions allowed us to completely revitalize an unused part of Garbee Hall into a locker room area for the women. The newly renovated space includes beautiful lockers, new paint, new sinks, toilets, and a new epoxy floor. The women now have secure access to their lockers, showers, restrooms, team laundry, and a water bottle filler in their new area.

From my first day on the job more than a year ago, I was excited about the thought of building a championship women’s wrestling program at Upper Iowa University. That excitement has only grown after working through our initial competitive season in 2025-26, recruiting a large class of women's wrestlers to Upper Iowa, and seeing the passion, dedication, and loyalty of the Upper Iowa fanbase in person during our first-ever home duals last winter.

This year's preseason began with good intensity, and our wrestlers have raised their level every day. Between weight training, wrestling practice, conditioning, and study halls, these women have fought to improve every aspect of being a successful student-athlete. I feel like we have great momentum heading into our competitions, and we are eager to test ourselves against other teams.

After our huge success in our inaugural home women’s wrestling duals last season, we have scheduled SIX home events for this year! Our first matches will be on November 6 against Loras College and Central College in Dorman Gym. Please come, be loud, and support our women’s wrestlers!

Women's Wrestling Needs

This year, we have identified a few areas of need to continue improving our young program. With our roster growing so quickly, we are in need of more cardio equipment including several bikes and a treadmill. Additionally, we would love to add a lounge to our facility. Adjacent to our training space in Garbee, we have a room that already has some great cabinets and a sink from when the space was a break room for the Student Enrollment Center. We would love to add some couches, a television, a sound system, and a refrigerator to create a lounge area for our student-athletes to use during the day and come closer together as teammates.
