Story

Pedal Power: Saddle up as we hit the road with African Vision Malawi!

This May, two intrepid Gandys team members – Keanua and Jenny - are gearing up for an extraordinary journey - a seven-day, 500-kilometre cycling adventure through Malawi as part of African Vision Malawi’s incredible Pedal Power event!

Our transformative partnership with African Vision Malawi started in 2017 and we are proud to have worked alongside this amazing organisation to establish a preschool and a vital feeding programme in the impoverished community of Funsani.

The aim of this event is to raise money and give even more children an education, proper nutrition and the opportunity to build a better future for themselves and their community.

Here’s what’s in store for Keanua, Jenny and the other cyclists!

Starting Strong: From the bustling city of Lilongwe, Keanua and Jenny will set off with determination, embarking on the first leg that takes them 65km, ending up in Dedza.

Scenic Routes: As they pedal the 130km of day 2 through Golomoti Road towards Balaka, they will be taking in the stunning Malawi landscapes.

Into the Wild: The wildlife of Liwonde National Park will be a reward for the 40km of day 3

Rest and Reflection: Day 4 offers them a chance to recharge and reflect on the impact of their efforts.

Community Connection: Passing through Mua Mission and Senga Bay, they will meet with the local communities, reaffirming the importance of their mission.

Celebrating Success: After 500km, arrival at Sam’s Village and the Gandys preschool!

About the charity

Inspired by the the loss of their parents in the 2004 tsunami – Rob & Paul founded 'The Gandys Foundation'. Struck by the inequality they have seen around the world, they established the Gandys Foundation to provide education, medication and nutrition to those who need it most.
