Story

Why we need your support

In October 2026, PANS PANDAS UK will host a landmark, three-day, in-person conference; Perspectives on PANS. We hope this event will be the launchpad for the newly published UK clinical treatment guideline, due later this year.

The development of the new treatment guideline is one of the biggest milestones we will have achieved so far. Our conference will be the starting point from which families across the UK should begin to see and experience real change, and the work we do following the publication of the new treatment guideline will ensure the change is sustained and long term. Our work will provide information and updates on the new treatment guideline and, crucially, it will advance understanding, research, clinical practice, and family support around PANS and PANDAS.

This conference, and the work that will follow, is a huge undertaking for a relatively small charity, so we really need your support right now. Any contribution you can make will go towards:

- Empowering clinicians to diagnose, test and treat patients

- Standardising care across the UK

- Improving early recognition and intervention

- Reducing misdiagnosis and inappropriate treatment

- Supporting multidisciplinary collaboration

- Facilitating research and enabling data collection

- Supporting families and reducing stigma

What will the conference involve?

A Research Symposium for medical professionals and researchers to connect, share insights and discuss key clinical and scientific issues. We hope this will deepen professional networks and facilitate collaborative working practices across the globe.

A Clinical Professionals Conference for clinicians, consultants, paediatricians, GPs and Allied Health Professionals to support the wider understanding of PANS and PANDAS, as well as the clinical application of the new treatment guideline

A Community Conference for community members to connect with one another, and for the charity to provide valuable updates and support information in person. This day will include a Panel Q&A with leading UK and international clinicians.

“This conference will be an excellent opportunity for improving awareness, empowering families, driving clinical understanding and excellence, and fostering collaboration between researchers and clinicians both across the UK and internationally.” - Vicky Burford, our Chief Executive Officer.

What Next?

Following the conference, we will raise awareness of the new treatment guideline and work to support its successful and consistent application to bring about meaningful change of those affected by PANS and PANDAS. This will not be a small undertaking for our small charity, and will be a key strategic priority for PANS PANDAS UK following the treatment guideline publication.
