Story
I have entered the Shepherds Walks Coastal Challenge taking place 7th June 2025 and have entered the Marathon (26 miles) event.
It is a timed event with 12 hours to complete the route which starts at Beadnell and ends at Druridge Bay Country park. I have decided to use my entry in this event not only as a personal challenge but also to raise money for the Josh's Osteosarcoma Support and Help Foundation.
The JOSH charity is close not only to my heart but the hearts of my family. Through my wife, we have come to know an amazing family, who have shown great strength and determination in setting up the charity in memory of their son and brother. Having two daughters I can only imagine the pain of what it is to go through the daily battle of dealing with cancer and to lose a child at a young age and not to see them grow and experience the wider world and live a full life. Although it’s not possible to prevent this occurring, to me the aims of the charity to provide some respite during this period, to help make lasting memories is invaluable. I feel very humble that I am able to take on this challenge and hope any monies I manage to raise in completing this challenge will go towards providing further opportunities to help as many families as possible and help the memories of a truly amazing and inspiring young man continue for many years.
