Story
Since 2001, there have been tens of thousands of casualties from the Global War on Terrorism. Countless families have been touched by loss in some way – either through the death of their loved one or from a profoundly altered future due to wounds, injury, or illness.
These are events that shatter a family. Spouses become primary caregivers to wounded warriors, primary parents to their children, and oftentimes the sole breadwinner.
While our government provides some support for these service members and their families, they can’t offer compensation for the loss of opportunities.
In 2003, Patriot Foundation was formed to support military families through scholarships to post-secondary institutions, not only for gold star families. There are fewer resources out there for the families of military that are wounded, injured, or ill from their time in service.
At the end of the day, our focus is helping the people who remain after these transformational events. Taking Care of Those Left Behind isn’t just our mantra it is the passion of every donor and volunteer.
The gift of an education is truly one of the greatest gifts of all.
