Story
Hello, my name is Cheryl, and I am a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Respiratory for PTHB.
I enjoy running and have never run the distance of a marathon. London marathon has always been on my bucket list, and when I saw the opportunity to run London marathon, whilst raising money for PTHB charity, it was something I had to put my name forward for. I was lucky enough to be chosen to represent Powys Health Charity for the London Marathon.
I am running for respiratory patients within Powys. With the money I raise from the marathon, I would like to buy gold standard equipment for the pulmonary rehabilitation programme. This is a well-recognised and evidence-based programme, which enables respiratory patients to improve their quality of life, increase their exercise tolerance and provides them with education regarding their respiratory conditions.
The money I raise will also go towards equipment to support patients to manage their breathlessness, and to set up self-management support groups, for patients with respiratory patients to network, as due to the vast geography of Powys, this is not always easy.
