For those who know me, you will know that I love trail running and volunteering. So, I'm combining the two... Delamere Marathon in aid of 1st Davenham Scouts!

Our Scout Group is in desperate need of a permanent meeting venue. We have been homeless for 20 years, since our previous meeting venue was declared derelict. We have managed to fundraise to buy some land in the village and we have recently managed to gain planning approval... but we are a long way from having the funds to build. Currently we have about 10% of the required total. As we head into winter, the Scouts continue to meet outdoors... which means that we are excellent at lighting fires! However, we would love to have the option of keeping warm indoors every now and then, especially when it's raining. Beavers and Cubs rent space to be indoors, which means we have to spend funds we could otherwise use to build.

A scout hut would not only benefit the young people involved in Scouts, it would be a great gain for the village as a venue for social clubs, supporting well-being. At present, there is no such meeting place in our community.
