Story

The Philakade Care Home opened its doors on 4th November 2019 to try and meet the enormous need for residential care of children and adults who are wheelchair / bed bound and have been abandoned or whose families are unable to care for them and offer palliative care, for patients who are terminally ill on admission or whose condition deteriorates and for whom curative medicine is not indicated.

Having completed phase one, the Philakade Care home has started the big move into the second phase of the building.

The Philikade Care Home believes that the poor in Kwa-Zulu Natal have a right to patient centred chronic care - People/children who are wheelchair bound, bed ridden and needing 24 hour care deserve access to quality nursing care, especially people who are marginalised because they are homeless, destitute or abandoned.

The Philakade Care Home, an extension to the clinics services, is a new in progress residential and day care centre. Through this home, in which people of all faiths work side by side, we intend responding to the needs of the many people in need.

The Philiakade Care Home provides a Best Practice patient centred nursing care model in a safe environment, a daily activities programme, good nutrition and rehabilitation and support of families with an incapacitated member- child or adult.

About the charity

The South African Children’s Charitable Trust believes that every child, no matter what their background has the right to reach their potential and dream big. Current circumstances do not define who we become and it is vital to empower every child with this belief in themselves.
