Phoenix Charity Provision Campaign

Organised by Phoenix

Phoenix charity provides life-saving interventions to individuals entrenched in substance addiction and on-going support to addicts in recovery.

Phoenix supports those individuals who fall through the cracks on the NHS and those on low incomes to access the care they otherwise would not receive. Phoenix funds these individuals to access alcohol home detoxes, residential rehab, one-to-one therapy and an intensive outpatient dayhab program.

Story

This campaign aims to raise vital funds to allow Phoenix to continue to deliver life-saving interventions which include:

The Wilderness Programme - The Wilderness Programme is a therapeutic 12-step, 5-day retreat based in Wales. It combines outdoor activities such as white-water rafting and abseiling with therapeutic 12-step based workshops, process groups, and meditation.

One-to-one therapy - Individuals in early recovery often find the cost of one-to-one therapy prohibitive, making it difficult for them to access this crucial support. Phoenix provides long-term, weekly one-to-one psychotherapy free of charge, effectively removing this financial barrier. Our therapists are specialists in addiction disorders and have lived experience.

Couples & family therapy - Phoenix Charity acknowledges that addiction is a complex issue impacting not only the individual but also everyone around them. We offer family and couples therapy, emphasising the importance of communication with those involved in the addict's life to foster a positive path forward.

Interventions - Phoenix offers therapeutic interventions when needed, supporting families and loved-ones to find solutions to challenging situations. We aim to help with the difficult decisions that often need to be made to aid the addict’s recovery. These sessions are conducted by psychotherapists specialising in addiction.

The launch of a community space- We would like to create a Community Hub in Hertford that will serve as a safe physical connection space for isolated individuals who suffer from addiction, but are abstinent and in recovery. Although a recovering addict may be able to function without drugs and alcohol, they still may be a long way off from getting back into work and 'normal life'. This project aims to bridge the gap between addicts becoming abstinent and addicts becoming ready for work and life on life's terms. Through work experience, volunteering, connection with other recovering people, workshops, training, psycho-education, therapy and general relationship building we aim to give all addicts the skills, tools and self-esteem to thrive in a life and community that is meaningful and rewarding.

The launch of walk and talk-a therapeutic recovery group who meet weekly for a 90-minute walk through the green surroundings of Hertford. Led by psychotherapists specialising in addiction, these walks provide a setting where participants can engage in therapeutic conversations. This approach leverages the benefits of exercise, which is known to enhance mental health, and fosters connection though a supportive community.
