Story
Founded in Dublin in 2006, Pieta was established to provide freely accessible one-to-one counselling to people suffering from suicidal ideation, engaging in self-harm or to those bereaved by suicide. With over 240 qualified therapists in 15 centres, we do everything we can to ensure that help is available to those in crisis. Since we began we have provided counselling to over 44,000 people, with almost 8,000 people coming through our doors in 2019.
We offer three main services:
Our Prevention Service is delivered through our Resilience Academy, a six week evidence-based programme aimed at equipping students with the tools for emotional resilience.
Our Intervention Service includes one-to-one therapy to rebuild the hope and resilience of those who are suicidal or self harming and provide them with the ability to deal positively with the issues affecting them. We also operate a 24/7 helpline and text service staffed by fully qualified therapists.
Our Bereavement Service involves working with people that have been affected by suicide. Our Suicide Bereavement Counselling services provide free counselling, therapy and support to individuals, couples, families and children. All therapy is carried out by specially trained Bereavement Liaison Officers and offers support whether in the home or at one of our 15 centres.
We are passionate about our life-saving work. And all services are provided free of charge.
