Playground Quiet Corner and Revamp

The school would like to create a bright, colourful and quiet space, to give pupils a safe place to get away from the busy and noisy playground. At the same time the PTA would like to revamp the current tired playground equipment and markings.

We are the PTA for Ilmington CofE Primary School. We are a small primary school with only 117 pupils. As the government continues to reduce the funding for schools, it is becoming increasingly important to raise additional funds for the school. We are a really proactive PTA and arrange lots of fundraising events throughout the year, including serving tea and cake at our local Village Show & school productions, family events such as Bingo, Breakfast with Santa, Easter events, the list goes on! All profits from our events and any raffles held go direct to the school. We currently have 2 big projects that the school have asked our support with, as their ever reducing budget just won’t stretch that far. Our first project is to make the playground a safer and more inclusive environment. The school would like to add a quiet corner with shelter and add a wall mural, repair the current shelter and decking area. Along with freshening up the current playground markings. This work is going to cost around £10,000. The second project is to purchase a new set of Phonics Reading Scheme. The school currently use the E-book version, but to purchase the physical books it cost £8,178. Having the actual books to use in school and send home means that they are full accessible to all pupils. We really appreciate any support that you can give us to help us provide this much needed provisions. Thank you for taking the time to read about our current projects.

Story

We are the PTA for Ilmington CofE Primary School. We are a small primary school with only 117 pupils. As the government continues to reduce the funding for schools, it is becoming increasingly important to raise additional funds for the school.

We are a really proactive PTA and arrange lots of fundraising events throughout the year, including serving tea and cake at our local Village Show & school productions, family events such as Bingo, Breakfast with Santa, Easter events, the list goes on! All profits from our events and any raffles held go direct to the school.

We currently have 2 big projects that the school have asked our support with, as their ever-reducing budget just won’t stretch that far.

This is our biggest project and where we would like to make the playground a safer and more inclusive environment.

The aim of the project is to create a bright, colourful and quiet space, to give pupils a safe place to go away from the busy and noisy playground. At the same time, we would also like to revamp the current tired playground equipment, injecting new life into it.

Our vision is to render 2 of the outside walls in the corner of unused playground and have a big wall mural painted on it. The mural would be a bright colourful map of the village, incorporating all the local landmarks and places the school has with the community. There would be a 3-point sail erected up in this corner, to provide much needed shelter.

Around each of the walls would be some wooden seating to encourage quiet activities, such as reading and low energy activities.

To level the ground up, we wish to install compose decking with a structural steel frame, so that there is no chance of it needing to be replaced.

To link this space to the rest of the playground, we wish to put up a pergola, where plants and flowers could grow over, adding a small natural area.

Whilst creating this quiet area, we would also like to renovate the current playground area, replacing the current decking base with a steel framework, repairing and refreshing the shelter, bridge area and repainting the playground lines and markings.

We really appreciate any support that you can give us to help us provide this much needed provision. Thank you for taking the time to read about one of our current projects.
