Interactive flooring at Lister

Please support our appeal to buy interactive flooring for children at Lister Hospital. The projectors display sensory games on the floor so children can play puzzles, read books and create art- taking their mind off their injury or illness

We enhance the care at Lister, New QEII, Hertford County and MVCC by funding projects above the remit of the NHS. Projects include providing the latest equipment, making improvements to the inside and outside spaces, funding support services and items to make being in hospital that much easier.

Story

We know that if we can entertain children when they are in pain or discomfort this can make an unsettling situation feel much more bearable. It can also result in a reduced need for extra medical input when the children are seen, as a relaxed child is much easier to treat by our doctors and nurses.

Childrens services see a need for Interactive flooring in both the waiting room of the Childrens Emergency Department and in the waiting area of Bramble Ward; where children wait for a number of ambulatory care appointments and clinics, including a daily plastics clinic and weekly oncology clinic. The interactive mats have games for all ages so every child up to 16 years will benefit from them.

The Interactive flooring would help up to 30,000 children each year feel:

-Less anxiety and stress, as they are distracted during waiting times
-More relaxed so it is easier for staff to administer treatment
-The mats would also reduce stress and anxiety for at least 30,000 parents and carers, as their children are entertained during their waits
