Please help these dogs get out of hell!

Twenty chained dogs living in hell in Lemnos. Mothers chained with their puppies, an elderly blind dog, also chained, sleeping in their own poo in broken down boxes with filthy water. We must get them out of hell but the shelter is full.

We provide support and financial assistance to Greek shelters to prevent and relieve the suffering of abandoned and abused dogs. We also arrange adoptions giving shelter dogs the chance of a happy new life with families in the UK.

Story

Things were bad enough already. As fast as dogs were adopted more were arriving. Lemnos Shelter was already packed when two further litters of pups were dumped at the weekend giving them 23 puppies needing to be fed and vaccinated.

So when the two volunteers were called out to an emergency on Sunday they couldn’t believe their eyes. This is in their own words:

On Sunday our hearts were broken and our souls darkened.

A man called Vaggelio asking our help for the dogs he has under his "care". He told us that he has around 20 dogs and he needs help to neuter them because he cannot control the situation any more.

But what we faced was totally unexpected!!!

Dogs chained, filthy bowls of water, dogs sleeping on their poo, mothers chained with puppies, dogs inside handmade cages living in their own poo and a totally blind dog chained with a big chain!!!!

We cannot describe to you what we saw !!! Just despair and pain. We felt helpless!! How can we help him when we have over 60 dogs in the shelter!!! I was crying, Vaggelio was in shock!! Our heads were buzzing from the headache!!

We had to act and even though we are struggling we made serious decisions which we know will affect life in the shelter and our own situation, but it was impossible not to act!!

Without a second thought we immediately took the blind dog and a puppy.

Our mission is to take the mothers with their babies and a few more dogs to free them from the torture of chains!!!

We will also neuter the dogs and with time we will try to take more dogs but this will take a long time until we can make this work.

We will do our best for these dogs !!

For any help you can give us we will be eternally grateful.
