We’ve created an event with fun for all the family, as our chance to give back to the local community we serve. Our volunteer lifeboat crew respond out of Millbay Marina and you may see our lifeboats out in Plymouth Sound, either on exercise or responding to emergency call outs from the Coastguard.
Join us at the Mountbatten Watersports & Activities Centre this August for a chance to meet our crew and get stuck in on the water yourself. We’re holding a good ol’ RNLI raft race for some wet and wacky fun.
Teams can build rafts out of anything you like, so long as they are nature powered and all the bits of them go home with you at the end of the day!
Be as creative as possible - prizes up for grabs include wackiest raft, best fancy dress and quickest time.
Raft entries are free so gather your friends together and make a team. For those who wish to fundraise (not compulsory), we will be raising money for both the Lifeboats and the Children’s Hospice South West, a charity very close to the hearts of our crew.
Location
Mountbatten Watersports and Activities Centre - PL9 9SJ
Tickets
Only 1 ticket is required per raft – the captain of a raft must reserve the entry for the raft. All individuals wanting to participate in the event will be required to register manually on the day of the event.

Race rules

First aid and water safety
First aid provision will be available on land through St John’s Ambulance and a water safety team will be managing any on-water response required. Lifeboats will be on-site but will not be providing safety cover, due to their requirement to fulfil a 24-hour emergency rescue service with the Coastguard.
