PLANET MERCY (U.K) - RAMADHAN 2021 APPEAL (30k Target)

Alhamdulillah the Blessed Month of Ramadan is with us and Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala has once again given us the opportunity to give from what he has blessed us with.

Planet Mercy UK is appealing to our generous donors as well as reaching out to a wider audience to raise the much needed funds to continue the projects in Ramadan and beyond.

Planet Mercy U.K has been running a campaign since 2009 to provide warm meals and food parcels to the poor, needy and destitute of the U.K, working with several partner organisations.

Originally starting off as a local awareness campaign this has with the assistance of our generous donors, transformed into a fully-fledged project ran and delivered by Planet Mercy UK volunteers, leading to many openings and new projects such as Food Banks, Food Kitchens & Food Parcel distribution nationally.

HOW WE SPENT YOUR DONATIONS LAST YEAR?

1- Covid19 Food Parcel Distributions

Covid19 changed the world , Planet Mercy UK had to change the way it worked to deal with the challenges and reach the needy. Volunteers worked since March 2020 and are still going, around 100 volunteers participated from all background and collectively we provided in the Greater Manchester area 5000 parcels to date which equates to 30,000 Meals with a Monetary Value of £50,000.

2- Hardship Fund

A Hardship Fund was set up to respond to the difficulties families faced with the covid and uncertainty around income etc, 21 Families were supplied with a grant of £250 each , totalling £5250

3- Zakah Distribution

Zakah distribution has been part of our work since our inception. Families are assessed according to the shari criteria and provided support that varies from 2 to 6 months based on circumstances with a weekly amount so they have consistent support for a while. This year we have distributed £17,000 Zakah to eligible families in the UK. The families vary from being refugees, asylum seekers will little or no income entitlement to families who have lost jobs/no jobs/single mothers struggling, each person meets the eligability critiera.

4- Reach/Household Items

Families were affected in many ways economically as a result of the covid, we received many requests from refugee families and general working class, low paid families who couldnt afford household applicances that need replacing. We supported 50 Families this last year with various household appliances as well as Gas and Electric top ups. On this project we distributed £4,000.

Hardship Fund and Household Appliances Support

In the blessed month of Ramadan, where the rewards are multiplied and one of the dimensions of Fasting is to feel the pain of the poor through hunger, Planet Mercy provides what the poor and struggling families perceive as "luxury Food Parcels" weekly to over 100 Families and Warm Meals so they can enjoy Ramadhan like us.

Each parcel costs £10 and includes Milk, Bread, Eggs, Cooking Essentials, Dates, Fruit & Veg, Snacks, Hot Food and More.

All this can only be possible with your help and support whether financially, or in raising awareness of this much needed appeal and in volunteering at the kitchens or help in distributing the parcels.

TARGET 30 K

This Ramadan Planet Mercy aims to raise 30k in order to financially secure all the current projects for another 12 Months as well as start new initiatives that will change the lives of many within our immediate communities.

This is a great opportunity for you to multiply your rewards this Ramadan and make a real difference and bring a smile on the face of disadvantaged people.

Sponsor a Food Parcel for £10, or donate towards providing Hardship Grants / Household Appliances for struggling families, or donate your Zakah to be distributed to Eligible Families.
