Story
Did you know?

On 6 June, a small but determined team from Police Care UK will stand at the foot of Ben Nevis, lacing their boots in the grey light of early morning. Ahead of them: 24 hours, three mountains, and a challenge that mirrors the resilience often demanded of the policing community.
They aren’t climbers or endurance athletes by trade. They are staff and volunteers united by a single purpose - to raise awareness of the wellbeing challenges faced by serving and veteran police officers and their families and more importantly, to raise vital funds so no one in policing has to struggle alone.
For the team, the National Three Peaks Challenge isn’t just a test of endurance. It’s a statement of solidarity.
We want officers to know they’re not alone. When I was at my worst it didn’t feel like there was that support at work. It felt quite isolating and it was quite a lonely place to be. I don’t ever want to see people in the place where I was and want to make sure people know there is help available and how they can access that help — Phil, Police Care UK Volunteer
As a current serving police officer Phil, has experienced the pressures and witnessed the unseen reality of modern policing up close.
The public sees the uniform. What they don’t see is the impact the job leaves behind; trauma, exhaustion, and the toll on policing families. We’re climbing the Three Peaks to show officers across the UK that their wellbeing matters, and that support is always there when they need it.”
For our staff members, the challenge represents a bigger mission. Police officers face things most people will thankfully never experience. Yet many don't know they can access specialist support for trauma. By taking on something this tough, we want to stand in solidarity with the community and highlight the importance of wellbeing care within the policing network.
If they can carry the weight of those responsibilities, we can carry ourselves up three mountains.” - Vlada, Police Care UK Staff
The Three Peaks Challenge will be tough, but it’s nothing compared to what many officers go through. If my effort helps raise awareness and funds for their support, every step will be worth it.” - Gajana, Police Care UK Staff
Together, we hope this journey will inspire conversations, compassion, and action. Each donation goes towards providing psychological support, recovery programs, and practical help for those whose job is to protect the public, often at great personal cost.
How can you help?
£25 could help pay for an hour of a clinician's time.
£50 could fund a clinical assessment to a police officer or their partner.
£100 could fund a session of trauma focused therapy.
As the team takes their first steps up Ben Nevis, they’ll be carrying the stories of thousands with them. And with every metre climbed, we hope to make the path a little easier for those who’ve carried the weight of policing for so long.
💙Thank you for helping us be there for those who keep us safe.💙
