Story

Ipswich Sea Cadets want to thank anyone who has helped us, for their kindness and generosity

Dear Sir/Madam,

You may recall us sending out a call for funding help earlier this year, well, it’s difficult to know where donations have come from on the JustGiving page so we wanted to send a Thank You out and hope that it’s received by everyone who has supported our cause.

We just wanted to say:

WE DID IT, THANKS TO YOU!!

If you have kindly supported us in any way, we sincerely THANK YOU wholeheartedly.

We have reached our target and we are super stoked. Who knows where we’d be without the generosity, kindness and thoughtfulness of our funders and supporters. We owe so much to so many. Thank you all!

We’ve raised £51,161.37 – 100% of our target!

We now need to decommission the existing pontoon and arrange for the purchase and delivery of the new replacement. If you could possibly assist with anything here we’d be very pleased to hear from you, please contact us at FloatOurBoats@ipswichseacadets.org. I suppose our biggest challenge starts now!

Thank you, again.

Yours sincerely,

Scott

Boats Officer

TS Orwell offers a range of different activities including rowing, sailing, windsurfing and powerboating to expeditions and camping, as well as so much more to young people aged 10 -18! Combined with opportunities such as the Duke of Edinburgh's Award Scheme, Royal Yachting Association (RYA) qualifications, First Aid, and many other transferable life skills, we genuinely believe in the positive impact life as a Sea Cadet can have on a young person.

During 2022 it became obvious that our floating pontoon was in a bad state of repair and we have now had to restrict access to some parts of the pontoon. Utilising an excellent relationship with the Royal Engineers, 23 Parachute Engineer Regiment, based in Woodbridge, kindly offered to send some divers to conduct an underwater survey. The survey also identified some structural defects.

We are now raising funds to replace the pontoon. This will ensure that TS Orwell can offer a full range of boating activities to Cadets, providing exciting and fun waterborne experiences.

About the charity

At Ipswich Sea Cadets, we aim to give young people an experience that will help them grow into the person they want to be in a safe and friendly environment. Through various activities and adventures, we learn teamwork, respect, loyalty, self-confidence, commitment, self-discipline, and honesty.
