Story

Porchlight was originally founded to help people facing the devastating effects of homelessness, but today we also tackle the causes and consequences of poverty, inequality and poor mental health.

Whilst this is a time to reflect on the thousands of people we have been able to support over the decades, the sad truth is our services are needed now more than ever.

The ongoing cost-of-living crisis and housing emergency mean the number of people experiencing or facing homelessness is rising.

Together we can be there for people when they need us the most.

Schools, community groups, companies and individuals across Kent will be sleeping outside in tent or makeshift shelter on the same night in their own separate locations to help us raise £50,000.

Many of our supporters will be familiar with the sponsored sleep out event – it is a fun, educational, team-building experience that provides valuable insight into what life can be like for people who have no choice but to live on the streets day in day out.

Please sponsor generously. Find the group, school, company or person you want to sponsor on the right hand side, or scroll down. If you can't find them please get in touch getinvolved@porchlight.org.uk Your donation will be helping people facing the devastating effects of homelessness or the challenges of mental ill health in Kent.
