Ongoing fundraise for new equipment

We are raising funds to add new equipment where the recently removed climbing frame used to be. Any contributions are hugely appreciated. Many thanks.

The Porter Recreation Ground Charity was established in 1937 for the encouragement of "healthy recreation" in Kencot and Broadwell. It is responsible for the running of the Porter Bowls Club and the Playground, both of which are enjoyed by a wide range of locals and visitors alike.

Story

The playground is a much-loved part of the Kencot and Broadwell community and also attracts people from further afield.

It is run by the Porter Recreation Ground Charity and is heavily reliant on donations and fundraising efforts to maintain the playground and to replace or renew equipment when needed.

Recently, we had to remove the climbing frame because it was deemed no longer to be safe. We are therefore fundraising to add new equipment in its place.

On an annual basis, the playground runs at a loss of around £600 before any expenditure on equipment. Income is typically £250-£300 from an endowment managed by CCLA, and running costs are around £900 (insurance, safety inspection, and grass cutting).

Any donations are therefore massively appreciated.

If you would like to know more please contact Henry Fyson (Chairman) or any of the Trustees: Alistair Dinmore and Vicky Tyler from Kencot; Kev Ball and Chris Greenslade from Broadwell.

Thank you.
