£10 purchases arts and crafts materials for a creativity session

£15 purchases an hour of 121 personal assistant support for an individual activity with a child

£30 pays for a trained facilitator to run a 1 hour physical activity session for a small group of children

If you buy one of our Positive Futures Christmas baubles, you not only get a lovely tree decoration, but you'll also be helping children in our Family Services, which have been badly hit by the coronavirus emergency.

Here's the story of one of them.

Noah (8) is the eldest of three children. He has a learning disability, autistic traits and has no verbal communication. He is highly sensitive to light, noise and busy environments, meaning that he can easily become very distressed by sensory overload. When he is frustrated, he can sometimes harm himself. He also wakes frequently at night. Noah has a number of strategies to help him cope with the world, including a sensory blanket, the scent of Olbas oil to reduce anxiety, and ear defenders to block out noise.

He and his family have been supported by Positive Futures since April 2019. He has dedicated 2-to-1 support and has successfully built relationships with staff and volunteers.

But since Covid-19 hit in March 2020, providing that support has been very challenging. Activities, which have to be held outdoors, have been limited. Noah's support staff have worked hard to make each trip outdoors as interesting and as stimulating as possible. Luckily, he likes the sight, sound and smell of the rain and is happy in his wet weather gear sitting under a tree, eating his lunch.

As you can imagine, the kind of support we have been providing during the coronavirus crisis is labour-intensive, because it has to be delivered individually rather than in a group.

Not surprisingly, that adds to our costs.

And that's where you come in.

Buying one of our Christmas tree baubles will contribute towards Noah's continuing support and ease the stress on his mum, Victoria, dad Simon and sisters Ruby and Martha.

It could make a huge difference to Noah and his family, as well as the many others who count on our support.
