Story
THE SITUATION
In Burkina, 45% live below the poverty line of $1.25/day. Many want to work, but are hindered by poor rains and soils, lack of resources, access to markets etc. Others suffer with sickness, failed harvests, etc
On top of this, there are also 2 million internally displaced people in Burkina, who have fled the violence of extremist islamist attacks, especially in the north and east of the country. They mostly come with little in the way of possessions, and settle in towns already overstretched for resources. There is a huge need for food, shelter, and other basics
HOW WE HELP - EMERGENCY AID
We are working with our partners in Burkina to help the most vulnerable among both local populations and the displaced in the areas we work, and bring targeted and appropriate help to those in need, whether that be food, medicine, clothes, blankets, mosquito nets, or other urgently-needed assistance.
Anything you can give will be a great help. Thank you.
OTHER WAYS WE HELP
Income Generating Activity: Helping individuals develop income-generating activities to enable them to work their way out of poverty
Community Group Action: Grants to community groups to relieve a need within the community, or enable them to develop their own poverty-alleviation strategies. Example: We helped repair a small reservoir, to help villagers grow vegetables for sale to provide for their families.
