Visit the charity's profileWell we did it! With clear blue skies and heatwave temperatures, we set off from Conwy around 8am and arrived in Bramhall just after 6pm. 150km (93miles) was more than the route had calculated but we hadn't banked on coming across closed roads, wrong turns and a bit of circling/doubling back on ourselves.
Needless to say it was a tough ride and the steep hills had been brutal. It was still a really enjoyable ride though, the conversations and chat as we went along, the superb scenery where the perfect weather made the colours and smells of the seaside and the countryside pop with an intensity you only get when travelling through on a bike.
Pippa had a puncture and the 2 Steves took a wrong turn that meant quite a few more miles on the clock but amazingly, incredibly we all arrived back in Bramhall sore and weary, but as a group. The family and kids who cheered us when we arrived was something i'll never forget and definitely an emotional moment at the end of a very long day. Thanks to Rob for being our support van, Jannette (Pippas Mum) for carrying supplies/food. It was very reassuring to have them closeby like a travelling lifeboat when we were a long way out to sea.
Many thanks for all your donations, it means a lot to the riders, the school and ultimately the children.
The past 15 months have been tough for many people. Last year the PTA was on track to raise enough money to install an outdoor classroom and trim trail in the KS1 playground, to match the ones in KS2. But then COVID happened, and the ball, the school fair, our discos, film nights, Easter hunts and ice pop Fridays all got cancelled. So, instead of raising our amazing usual £20-25k, we've finished the year with a still-great-but not quite great-enough £12k. Which is about half of what we need to upgrade our playground, and far short of where we hoped we'd be.
But you can help get us back on track!
But if you'd like to sponsor them using some of the money that we'd usually have spent on the year's school charity events - it could make a really big difference to our playground fund.
