The strategic plan for Fort Hays State University consists of five goals: academic excellence, student success, strategic growth, resources and infrastructure, and community and global engagement. The Presidents Strategic Initiative Fund supports these goals. Several funded initiatives have seen great success.

State Regional Tuition Rate

Funding has allowed us to expand marketing initiatives and as a result we are experiencing an increase in student tours, inquiries, and applications for our expanded regional tuition.

Shooting Sports JV Team

The FHSU Shotgun Junior Varsity team provides students opportunities to improve their skills and qualify for the varsity team. Since 2013, the FHSU Shooting Sports team has earned eight national titles.

Department of Social Work

The Department of Social Work is providing an online Bachelors in Social Work (BSW) program. Funding was also provided for the creation of the new clinical Masters in Social Work (MSW) program. The MSW program has grown to nearly 100 students in two years, while the BSW program increased from 150 to 200 student in the past year.

Transfer and Military Center

Through the strategic plan, the Transfer and Military Center has been able to streamline and enhance the services, resources, and opportunities for our transfer and military-connected student populations. For example, the Tuition Assistance Graduate Gap Scholarship (TAGGS) benefits our active-duty military students pursuing graduate degrees by reducing, and in some cases negating, their out-of-pocket tuition costs.
