Peter Richards Memorial Football Tournament 2025

Campaign by Barca Leeds

Barca-Leeds are proud to announce the fifth Peter Richards Memorial Football Tournament. In memory of our late colleague Peter Richards, the tournament features teams from across Leeds' charity and public sector.

Closes 19/12/2025

Founded in 1994, Barca-Leeds is a community charity based in West Leeds. Our purpose is to create long-term, sustainable change by empowering people to lead independent and fulfilling lives. In the last 5 years, Barca-Leeds has positively impacted the lives of 65,739 people across Leeds.

Story

Barca-Leeds annual Memorial Football Tournament is back for it's fifth year raising money for Peter's Fund.

All donations to the Fund will directly make a positive difference for people who are at risk of losing their home, or who are homeless and trying to get back on their feet again. By showing your compassion and care during difficult times we can help aid recovery and support people to get back on track. Please donate to help with rising food costs and bills that will completely change someone's life.

About the tournament

This 5 a side tournament will be hosted on Friday 21st November 2025, 12pm to 4pm, at Football World, Pontefract Lane, LS9 0RA.

The tournament is open to teams from Leeds' charity and public sector and we would love for your organisation to enter a staff and/or volunteer team.

The entry fee for all teams is £80/£10 per player, with proceeds going to Peters Fund.

Peter's Fund

Peter's Fund was set up in memory of Peter Richards, who sadly passed away in 2020. Peter worked for housing and homelessness charities for over 30 years and dedicated his working life to making a positive difference in people's lives. For the last 3 years of his life, Peter was the service manager at Engage Leeds helping people who have complex needs and are homeless or are at risk of becoming homeless. Outside of his work, Peter was a passionate football fan, supporting Arsenal as well his local non-league team, Bradford Park Avenue.

“Peter’s Fund is always a safety net for me when I am working with vulnerable people. It enables me to access a small amount of money almost instantly, with no red tape. That means I can do what I said I would do straight away to manage what is usually a crisis point. That leads to clients trusting me, they share more information about how bad their situation is and how ashamed they feel. After that I can really get to work on providing some long-term solutions. It is an amazing resource to have.” - Kamaldeep Deo. Dementia Worker, Engage Leeds
