What’s Happening
Punjab is experiencing its worst floods in decades, triggered by heavy monsoon rains and excess water released from Indian dams into the Ravi, Sutlej, and Chenab rivers. The intersection of these factors has flooded vast regions of the province.
The flooding has submerged over 1,400–1,650 villages, impacting 1.1 to 1.46 million people across Punjab.
Displacement figures range from 250,000 to over 467,500 evacuated residents, along with thousands of animals saved or relocated to safe zones.
Help Restore Hope in Punjab - Livestock = Livelihoods
The relief effort for the devastation suffered in Punjab (India) is enormous and will require the support of hundreds of organisations, and individuals, focusing on various aspects of the relief effort.
UNITED SIKHS (UK) will be helping families who have lost their homes, vehicles, crops and livelihoods. All they have left is their livestock (animals). For them their livestock means hope of restoring their livelihood and rebuilding their lives when the floods subside. This fund raiser is primarily for feed for their livestock and any remaining funds will be used to support the families rehabilitation after the floods.
