Arnold is an adorable 10 week old puppy, who along with his brothers and sister was handed in at a local kennels and then passed on to us for rehoming. Unfortunately he suffers from a condition called distichiasis, which means he as multiple extra eyelashes in both eyes. These extra lashes grow at an odd angle and rub on the surface of his eyes, causing discomfort and pain. He is also likely to get corneal ulcers as a result of the lashes rubbing. Whilst our vet is able to pluck these lashes to give him some relief, this is only a temporary solution and the lashes will regrow. At some point in the future Arnold will need referring to an Ophthalmology Veterinary specialist, who will most likely have to surgically remove each lash and it's hair follicle. This is highly specialist treatment requiring specialist equipment, and as such, doesn't come cheap. We have been advised that his treatment may cost £2500. Although this is a huge amount of money, we really want to enable Arnold to have a pain free life.
