Harry is an adorable 10 week old puppy, who along with his brothers and sister was handed in at a local kennels and then passed on to us for re-homing. Harry the beautiful tan puppy is Arnold's brother, who we have had a campaign running for, as Arnold suffers from a condition called distichiasis, which means he as multiple extra eyelashes in both eyes. These extra lashes grow at an odd angle and rub on the surface of his eyes, causing discomfort and pain. He is also likely to get corneal ulcers as a result of the lashes rubbing. However, at a vet check we discovered that Harry and 4 of his siblings are all starting to show signs of the condition too.
Whilst our vet is able to pluck these lashes to give them some pain relief, this is only a temporary solution and their lashes will regrow. At some point in the future Harry and his litter mates will need referring to an Ophthalmology Veterinary specialist, who may determine surgery , which will most likely mean having to surgically remove each individual lash and it's hair follicle. This is a hugely time consuming treatment carried out by a consultant requiring specialist equipment, and we have been advised that each treatment may cost £2500 per puppy.
We appreciate that this is a huge amount of money, however we are dedicated to providing a pain free life for Harry and his siblings. So help us to help them by donating to this cause and to help others who sadly come to us like Arnold and his siblings whom without our help may never have the happy ending they deserve.
Thank you so much from Harry and his brothers and sisters and the team at Holly Hedge
