On the 19th May 2019 we will once again be having our very own University of Manchester starting wave in the Great Manchester Run 10K and this year we are hoping to inspire more runners than ever before. We are encouraging any level of runner or walker to join us. If you are motivated to raise money for a cause close to your heart then the Purple Wave is the University community fundraising event to help you do this.
For the second year, those who want to take their next step or challenge in running or walking will also have the opportunity to run or walk with the University in the ½ marathon with other students, staff and alumni.
To encourage people to raise money for the University's charitable causes we are offering free Purple Wave registration for people who would like to fundraise by running the 10K or ½ marathon for sponsorship.
This free registration to the run includes the iconic purple technical running top to be worn on the day of the events.
Those who accept this free Purple Wave registration commit to raising at least £100 (or £50 if you are a current University of Manchester student) for one of the the charitable causes of The University of Manchester that are outlined below:
Undergraduate scholarships for local disadvantaged students;
Postgraduate scholarships for students from developing countries;
Breakthroughs in Medical Research.
