Story

QBI Steps for Dementia Research is a program of peer to peer fundraising activities where people in the community can raise funds to support research at the Queensland Brain Institute.

There is currently no treatment or cure for dementia, which is the second leading cause of death in Australia and the most prevalent cause of death for Australian women.

Dementia affects almost one in 10 people over the age of 65 and research at QBI is providing a pathway to potential treatments to millions worldwide.

A group of trekkers are walking the Snowy Mountains this November to raise funds to support the fight against dementia.

Support the Peter Hilton Alzheimer’s Research Endowment Fund

The Peter Hilton Alzheimer’s Research Endowment Fund has been established by Robyn Hilton in memory of her husband, Peter, who passed away from Alzheimer’s disease 14 years ago. Peter’s journey with Alzheimer’s was marked by courage and resilience, and Robyn has honoured that journey by creating a lasting legacy in his name. This endowed fund will provide perpetual support for critical research into Alzheimer’s disease at the Queensland Brain Institute (QBI) – helping to accelerate the search for better treatments, earlier diagnosis, and ultimately a cure.

By supporting the Peter Hilton Alzheimer’s Research Endowment Fund, you are contributing to vital research that aims to improve the lives of the more than 400,000 Australians living with dementia today, and the many more who will face it in the future. Your donation will ensure Peter’s story continues to inspire hope, and that his legacy lives on through discoveries that could change the future of brain health. Every gift to the fund, no matter the size, helps power breakthrough science at QBI – science that could one day end the heartbreak of dementia.

To honour Peter. To help others. To make a lasting difference. Please consider supporting the Peter Hilton Alzheimer’s Research Endowment Fund today.
