After the success of last year's Founders' Day Walk (which raised over £3500 for EDUKID) we have decided to run the event once again and make it into a bit of a Queen's tradition. Founders' Day is a celebration of who and what we are as an institution and as a community of students, staff, families and OQs. It is a day where we re-tell the story of our foundation and remind ourselves of the values and ideals that brought a group of people together some 180 years ago to found a school. They left us with a distillation of their vision in our school motto, non scholae sed vitae discimus; not for school but for life. They also left us with a Christian ethos which tells us what they understood a good life to be: one that enriches others, not just ourselves. Today Queen's exists to equip our students for such a life.

Founder's Day seeks to be an embodiment of what this vision has made us: a diverse group of people joined together as one by the hope of a better future for all. This year's walk is a celebration of our unity as we enjoy each others' company, but it is also an opportunity to serve the world beyond us by supporting EDUKID in their endeavour to bring the riches of education to children in Cambodia. Every pound you offer in sponsorship to our students this year will be passed to EDUKID who will in turn support local charities to support their communities. Please give generously. Perhaps 180 years from now there will be young Cambodians who still benefit from your giving just as our students benefit from out founders' generosity today.
