Quetzal support women who experienced childhood sexual abuse aged 16 and above living in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.
In 2021, Quetzal launched North West Leicestershire Outreach Programme. The project aims to measure the effectiveness of a community-based approach to raise awareness about the trauma of childhood sexual abuse and the value of counselling in the region. With the support of a volunteer community connector living in North West Leicestershire, Quetzal will measure whether their presence in the region increases awareness amongst female survivors.
In 2020-2021, 261 female survivors referred themselves to Quetzal for support. Amongst them, 12 female survivors from North West Leicestershire contacted our charity for support. Over the years, the number of referrals from the region remains the lowest in Leicestershire.
