YOU DID IT!
We've hit our stretch target thanks to our supporters to raise the money needed to buy plants to replant our Quiet Garden. When the restoration work on the church ends this summer and the scaffolding is removed, we will have access to assess the damage to the garden. Some plants will be unscathed, others will need some tender loving care to revive them, and quite a number will need replacing and that's where your support comes in. Thanks to the money we've raised this quiet green oasis will be restored for all who pass through our churchyard.
Our Quiet Garden began as a simple idea: to create a small, peaceful green space in the churchyard where anyone could pause, breathe, and find a moment of calm in the City.
Volunteers led by congregant and dedicated gardener, Valerie Hill-Archer, cleared beds, planted trees, shrubs and perennials, and slowly brought new life to this corner of St Bride’s.
However, recent extensive works to the repair and restore the stonework of the church roof and walls have unfortunately damaged parts of the planting, and several young plants have been lost.
The work has been essential but the results are stunning. St Bride's Church is being restored to its former glory.
We now need to restore the beds so the garden can flourish again this year.
We are hoping to raise £500-£1000 to buy replacement plants and other gardening sundries.
Every gift, large or small, will help us bring this little sanctuary back to life for all who pass through our churchyard.
Thank you for supporting this small but meaningful place of reflection, stillness and welcome in the heart of the City.
