Ride to Brussels in a Spin Class!!!

Following the very successful ride to Brussels on May 17-19th, a group of school teachers and parents are attempting to replicate that feat on Digme spin bikes on Sat Jun 8th. They will attempt to ride the 220 miles between them in a single class.

We're a bunch of mum's and dad's doing our bit to help support the school, with the benefit of making some good friendships, having some fun and the bonus of loosing some weight. We've even got some special guests joining us we've met on training rides, or lucky friends just out for a support ride.

Story

Following in the footsteps of the 22 riders who rode to Dover and Brussels on May 17-19th, a group of 25 school teachers and parents are attempting to repeat the feat in a Digme spin class on Sat Jun 8th - and in the process raise sponsorship so that we can reach our £15,000 overall target!

They will have 45 mins to cover the 220 miles between them.

Digme Fitness in Richmond have kindly provided the bikes for our intrepid spin cyclists to use.

We will have 15 teachers (Mrs/Miss Hines, Diver, Renshaw, Forsdick, O'Rourke, Kennedy, McCrossan, Doherty, Parker, White, Knowles, Bolger, Etchpare, Donaldson, Brosnan).

And 10 parents (John, Claire, Colman, Caroline, Liza, Catherine, Carolina, Arlene, Sylvia)

(Details of the original Richmond to Brussels ride below)

We will have 22 riders starting out on the ride, leaving the school playground at 9am on Friday morning.

5 riders are riding to Dover - 93 miles in 1 day; Estrella, Mariasole, Russell, Francisco, Mark.

17 riders will be continuing to Brussels, via Bruges - a total of 220 miles plus any navigational errors and about 16 hours cycling, over 2 days; Gabriela, Olivier, Leo, Max, Oliver, David, Stephan, Paul, Tom, Evan, James, Neil, Jeremy, Pete, Pankaj, Abhi and Henry.

We will be returning on Sunday morning, and arriving at school during the May Fair on Sunday May 19th, at around 12:30pm.

The riders have been training for this event for about 3 months, riding about 100km each weekend, through wind, rain and even sleet. This year's riders include 5 who have never cycled further than Richmond Park laps, and 2 who had never been on a road bike prior to February!

All money raised goes straight to the school. The riders are paying all their own expenses for the ride.
