My name is Debi. I am one of the Assistant Practitioners who work within Interventional Radiology at the Pinderfields Hospital, part of the Mid Yorkshire Trust Teaching hospital in Wakefield.
The Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust provides compassionate and expert care for over half a million people every year. We, Team Interventional Radiology, are taking on the challenge to raise funds for visual lighting to enhance our patient experience and environment. The visual lights create a natural environment, resulting in substantial therapeutic benefits that support the health and well-being of all patients while undergoing surgical procedures under fluoroscopy guidance (X-ray).
Research shows that the benefits that these special lights can provide and include positive distractions, improved recovery, reduced delirium and anxiety, evoking memories and anxieties that can often occur when patients attend the department for these procedures.
