‘Let’s reach over and above the roof!’

On 15 July 2023, sister Sajeda Khalifa will be taking on the mighty K2 Mountain - the 2nd highest mountain in the world in support of Dawatal Islam’s Roof Replacement Project.

K2 base camp trek is in the Karakoram mountain range of Gilgit Baltistan, Pakistan. It is one of the most dramatic and challenging treks that takes you to the top of the world where heaven and earth meet.

The journey to K2 base camp has an altitude of over 5,000m, breathtaking views and difficult terrain. This is a trek that requires physical and mental fitness which takes up to 15 days to complete.

As many of you are aware, Dawatal Islam Mosque was established in 2004 with the blessings of the Almighty and the efforts, support and du'aa of our local community and further afield.

Unfortunately, the roof has had a number of repairs over the last few years and we have been advised by numerous reputable companies that it's now time to replace the whole roof - this is going to cost in excess of £140,000 including potentially adding solar panels at the same time.
