Story
Help Rasuwa Students Education
Severe floods and landslides have devastated Rasuwa and surrounding communities in Nepal, destroying homes, livelihoods, roads, bridges and essential infrastructure. Electricity has been severely affected, with only around 30% of families in Rasuwa currently having access to electricity as of 02 September 2026.
Following a visit to the flood-affected corridor from Trishuli, Dhunge Bazar to Devighat in Nuwakot, the HELP team saw the devastating impact firsthand. The worst-affected communities further up the Rasuwa Valley remain difficult to reach.
Families are living in temporary shelters or staying with relatives, while communities work to clear mud and debris from their homes and begin the difficult process of rebuilding.
A practical need we can address now
Humanitarian organisations and the Government of Nepal are already providing vital food, shelter, medical care and emergency assistance. We do not want to duplicate these efforts.
Working through HELP and our long-standing local relationships, we are focusing on practical gaps where we can make a meaningful difference.
On the immediate priority, HELP will deliver 300 portable solar light kits to families affected in Rasuwa and Nuwakot for which HELP with Mondo's support has already secured support for 160 solar lights. Each kit includes a solar panel, multiple lights, a torch and a mobile-phone charging facility — providing families with essential light and a way to keep their phones charged while electricity infrastructure is restored. If you would like to donate towards the last 50 solar lights, it cost £30 including the delivery cost.
Mondo and our partners have previously provided solar lighting to communities affected by the Helambu and Melamchi floods, and we know how valuable this simple, practical support can be in the aftermath of disaster.
But the need is much greater and we are looking into the future when the media attention will fade away.
Alongside this immediate assistance, funds raised through this campaign will help us respond to urgent needs identified locally, as well as supporting longer-term recovery, education and community rehabilitation. Our key goal will be to keep the students in school and support through scholarship/educational grant scheme for over 100 Rasuwa children for a period of a year and two or longer.
Our response will remain guided by what communities need most, working alongside local authorities, community organisations and humanitarian partners to ensure support complements — rather than duplicates — existing efforts.
100% of funds raised through this campaign will be directed to Nepal and used to support communities affected by the floods.
