For over 165 years, Railway Benefit Fund- a non-membership charity, has been a lifeline for railway people and their families across the UK. We rely solely on fundraising and the rail industry's generosity to support our railway people facing financial hardship, unexpected household bills, and other unforeseen challenges.
Over the past two years, we have witnessed an increasing need for our confidential and independent support services. Two-thirds of our support goes directly to current railway workers, individuals within your own organisation who are juggling full-time jobs while facing personal challenges, like Josh, a 21year old Railway Engineer who said,
“I’ve been struggling really badly lately financially and emotionally, with normal problems like money, not getting enough shifts working as a track engineer, family issues. I came across RBF and got the help I needed, it’s very simple and the staff are wonderful, I highly encourage people to reach out if you’re struggling to make ends meet for you and your family”
As the railway reaches its 200th birthday, we are looking to secure a sustainable future for the RBF enabling us to continue to support future generations of railway families, as we have for thousands of individuals throughout our history.
For this National Walking Month, our Million Step Team Challenge is a chance for teams to boost their fitness, celebrate the remarkable Railway 200 anniversary, and support the railway family.
Each team will conquer one million steps throughout the month – that's just over 8,000 steps a day!
The exciting route begins at the historic Euston Station and culminates in the Northeast, the very birthplace of passenger rail. They'll virtually retrace the groundbreaking 26-mile path of the original first passenger railway from Stockton to Shildon via Darlington – a journey that forever changed the world.
Thank you for supporting our teams to complete this challenge and raise funds for Railway Benefit Fund.
