We are asking the public to donate as little or as much as they can to go towards our Christmas campaign this year supporting student nurses in Bangladesh
The RCN Foundation has partnered with the Impact Foundation to improve patient care in Bangladesh by fully funding the training of two student nurses.
There is a critical shortage of around 280,000 nurses in Bangladesh, resulting in a situation whereby fewer than 40% of Bangladeshis have access to primary healthcare other than immunisation. In partnership with RCN President Cecilia Anim, the RCN Foundation is currently funding two student nurses at a specialist Nursing Institute in Meherpur district to mitigate the dearth of nurses and to provide career opportunities to academic young women from poor backgrounds.
We are funding the full cost of training two student nurses to undertake a three-year Diploma in Nursing Science and Midwifery. This includes the students accommodation and tuition costs. It costs £5,200 to train and support one student nurse over a full three year period
This Christmas, we are asking you to consider helping us to ensure we can support two more nurses in Bangladesh. Imagine giving the gift of education this Christmas!
Here are examples of what your money could do
:
£5 will provide a handwatch for a nurse;
£10 will make sure a nurse has a stethoscope and a handwatch
;
£15 could go towards a set of nursing books;
£17 would purchase a Blood Pressure machine
;
£23 can buy a student nursing uniform.
Please donate what you can this Christmas and rest assured that you will make a huge difference to the lives of nursing students in Bangladesh.
Thank you
