Story

The impacts of sexual violence have psychological, emotional, and physical effects on a person. Picking up the phone to ask for support can be an incredibly hard thing to do. It takes bravery.

SARSAS provides free professional trauma informed 1:1 counselling sessions, group work and Helpline Services (telephone, live chat & e support) for anyone needs help to reclaim their live after experiencing sexual violence..

Nothing can undo sexual violence, but SARSAS can help in the recovery process so that all victim-survivors can reclaim their life.

If it happened 60 years ago or 6 days ago, we will here to Listen, Believe and Support anyone who has experienced any form of sexual violence.

Zoe (not their real name) has allowed us to share her story

After my ex partner raped me - I couldn't face doing anything. I felt so overwhelmed that the idea of leaving the house, getting on a bus - just felt too much. I started to worry that I would get kicked off my teacher training course.

SARSAS helped to me to understand that I wasn't to blame for what my partner did to me. We worked through the feelings of shame that I had about the rape. Talking things through with my counsellor really helped me to start caring for myself again. I was able to speak to someone at college about what had happened and they supported my return to my studies. I simply couldn't have done that without SARSAS.
