Each month, we invite individuals in recovery from substance use to experience the transformative power of art by visiting exhibitions, performances, or galleries across Greater Manchester.

"Addiction is an emotional problem," says Mark Prest, CEO & Founder of Portraits of Recovery, and it’s a problem that could affect any of us. 45% of adults in the U.K. will struggle with addiction, with 1 in 11 being affected.*

In a time when loneliness and isolation are on the rise, we’re proud to offer a space where those in recovery can connect, share, and build new relationships—all while enjoying some of the best art Greater Manchester has to offer.

This wouldn’t be possible without the generosity of the wonderful venues, partners, and arts organisations we collaborate with.

This year, we’d love to be able to treat our group to a theatre show or a bigger gallery exhibition or event. But we need your help to make it happen! Your support will allow us to bring some much-needed joy, connection, and inspiration to those on their recovery journey, for many of whom, economics remains a huge barrier to accessing arts and cultural events.

For just £50, you can cover travel costs for five people in recovery, giving them the chance to visit the Walker Art Gallery in Liverpool—an experience they might not otherwise have.

For £40, you could buy tickets to the Northern Shakespeare Playhouse for three people in recovery to see Shakespeare for the first time.

For £30, you could pay for three people in recovery to visit the Yorkshire Sculpture Park.
