Story
Over 37,000 people have been killed in a catastrophic humanitarian emergency
The ongoing conflict and situation in Gaza is catastrophic. On 22 August, the IPC (Integrated Food Security Phase Classification) declared famine in parts of Gaza. Aid is desperately needed. Food supplies are virtually gone and the medical system is in ruins. 470,000 people are on the brink of mass starvation. Essential humanitarian supplies, including critical medication and infant formula, are completely unavailable.
We are witnessing unacceptable and relentless human suffering and the sheer scale of the response and recovery effort needed to match the needs will require funding for many years to come.
Aid alone will not solve this crisis, but it will save lives. People urgently need clean water, food, and medical care. Red Cross and Red Crescent teams have already helped over half the population, working tirelessly to alleviate suffering wherever they can.
How you can help people in Gaza
People are being forced to cope in ways no human should have to endure. Our Red Cross and Red Crescent teams are on the ground responding right now, but the humanitarian needs are immense and growing by the day.
If you are in the UK, the best and quickest way to help support people in Gaza is to donate to this appeal. These donations enable us to respond quickly and help wherever the need is greatest. Your donation helps fund the Palestine Red Crescent Society and The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), who have been on the ground since conflict escalated and continue to save lives, distribute aid and give hope.
Please note:
The Gaza Crisis Appeal will support people in areas affected and those potentially affected in the future by this crisis. Gift Aid claimed on donations received in response to this appeal will be used to fund the whole of our work. In the event there are surplus funds raised for this appeal these will be used for the general charitable purposes of the British Red Cross.
