In Gaza, famine is looming, clean water is scarce and health care systems have almost collapsed. Most people have fled from their homes, but there is nowhere safe left to go. In Lebanon, hundreds of thousands of people have been displaced, and humanitarian needs are increasing at an alarming rate. In Israel, families of those held hostage desperately await news of their loved ones and tens of thousands of people have been displaced. In the West Bank, recent violence has displaced hundreds of families and had a devastating economic impact.
Aid alone will not solve this crisis, but it will save lives.
When there is a catastrophic emergency, as we are seeing now in parts of the Middle East, the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) of 15 UK charities – including the British Red Cross – join together to raise funds for an effective, coordinated response. DEC member charities are providing life-saving support and care to people in crisis in Gaza, Lebanon and the West Bank.
Please note:
The DEC Middle East Humanitarian Appeal will support people in areas affected and those potentially affected in the future by this crisis. Gift Aid claimed on donations received in response to this appeal will be used to fund the whole of our work. In the event there are surplus funds raised for this appeal these will be used for the general charitable purposes of the British Red Cross.
