Story

Most of us have known someone who has lived with dementia. A diagnosis of dementia huge impact on a person's life and those close to them . They are likely to experience grief, loss, anger, shock, fear, disbelief and even relief that they finally have some answers.

There will be fear about what the future holds for them and their family, and that they are losing control of their lives. Confusion and anxiety are common feelings and a time when there is so many arrangements to make to take control of life again.

At Butterflies, we are a lifeline to the whole support network of those diagnosed with dementia. Being able to share feelings, hopes and fears with others who undestand what you are going through, can be both a comfort and empowering. We offer a safe place to go where people can share their experiences, but also bring fun and purpose back into their lives.

What better way to celebrate the life of a loved one than to help others still fighting dementia.

Many thanks for thinking of us at this sad time for you. Hold tight to memories for comfort, lean on your friends and family for strength.

About the charity

Our ethos is “There is life after a diagnosis of dementia”. We aim to support families and find ways of encouraging those with dementia, and those caring for them, to recognise and use the skills that remain for as long as possible, not highlight and dwell upon those that are lost.
